"The Pearl-Bordered Fritillary is a beautiful species of butterfly found in Scotland. Their colourful orange and black wings have been sighted less and less over the years and are now considered threatened. Due to deforestation and inappropriate habitat management, the decline in numbers has meant less pollination and pest control."

DESCRIBE YOUR CHILDHOOD/GROWING YEARS
Many different things happened to me during the ages of 8-13 years old. I spent several years in foster care growing up before having my dream of going home at age 10. Whilst I was in the care system, I spent a lot of time in nature as I found it peaceful and grounding. It was where I found my strength. Going home, I was lucky enough to spend my teenage years with nature on my doorstep, I spent my entire childhood outdoors, exploring and learning. I grew from the girl who walked around with sugar water for bees, to the young lady who took in injured animals and nursed them back to health. 2003-2008 were very formative years for me, I excelled in school, grew within myself and fell in love with nature.

WHAT IS YOUR MEMORABLE MOMENT?
Winning the Miss Earth Scotland title meant the entire world to me. It has been a dream of mine to step on the Miss Earth stage for as long as I can remember and my dream finally came true.

ANY SPECIAL STORIES OR FACTS ABOUT YOUR FAMILY?
I have mixed heritage in that I have Scottish, Welsh, English and Romany Gypsy ancestry.

WHAT IS THE MOST UNUSUAL THING YOU HAVE EVER DONE?
I organized and led a climb of Ben Nevis, the tallest mountain in the UK. We managed to raise over £2,000 for charity and it was by far the hardest thing I have ever done. I have climbed numerous mountains for charity in the past, I once climbed the wrong one by mistake!

WHAT TIPS CAN YOU SHARE TO PROMOTE ECOTOURISM & CLIMATE CHANGE?
Explore different ways of traveling sustainably and find what’s right for you. Mother Earth is a beautiful place and should be enjoyed by all in an eco-friendly way.
Look at what you can do to be a part of the solution. Revisit your daily habits and make small but significant changes that will help you lead a life of sustainability.
Educate yourself and then others. Discover and learn different environmentally friendly practices and participate in as much as you can.

WHAT MAKES YOU PROUD OF YOUR COUNTRY?
I am proud of Scotland for a number of different reasons however I am most proud of the fact that 98% of Scotland is rural with only 2% civilization. This means over 91% of the entire population live within that 2% of land. This is evident in the beautiful highlands and breathtaking scenery throughout Scotland.

WHAT IS YOUR ADVOCACY?
My advocacy is The Green Queen Initiative, a project aimed at educating and demonstrating that living sustainably doesn’t mean moving mountains. There is so much we can do both individually and as a community to help fight climate change and live an environmentally friendly lifestyle. Small but significant changes in our lives can make a world of difference, and The Green Queen Initiative focuses on these.
