"The Hawksbill Turtle helps maintain biodiversity in coral reefs as it can selectively feed on some groups of sponges. The green turtle consumes tons of algae and sea grass. Through its selective option, it stimulates the growth of young, more nutritious grass."

DESCRIBE YOUR CHILDHOOD/GROWING YEARS
I was born in a very humble community in the countryside, I have good memories of that time, despite many difficulties from being from a vulnerable family with few resources. I was a happy child, loved by the family, full of friends I could play with, I remember it as if it were today, there was still no energy in my locality. We played by the light of the moon, counting the stars, describing the moon as someone who knew a lot about life. If I were to describe my childhood with one word it would surely be, “happy child”.

WHAT IS YOUR MEMORABLE MOMENT?
From a very early age I had the dream of being a model and a beauty Queen, I thought of the same thing as a child. Today having the opportunity to participate in Miss Earth is, without a doubt, the most memorable moment of my life. It became more than a dream, and a very big responsibility, carrying 10 islands on the coast each with its own particularity. For me, it is more than an honor, and I will do this as a young woman. Mainly as a Cabo Verdean, I will take the name and flag of my small and great Cabo Verde, and for being a representative for the first time in Cape Verde History makes me even more privileged.

ANY SPECIAL STORIES OR FACTS ABOUT YOUR FAMILY?
If I had to define my family with one word it would be "Union". I grew up in a family made up mostly of women, each with their own charm and each one of them represents something for me. We have a group on WhatsApp where we always talk and at the moment the theme of this group is Tayrine 's participation in Miss Earth! They have been a well of energy which I carry with me whenever possible and I know that they will always be there for me, even if it is to pull my ear if possible hhhhh... Even to dress, from afar I need the help of my family. We were united and more and more we became united. "Happiness is simple, we complicate it".

WHAT IS THE MOST UNUSUAL THING YOU HAVE EVER DONE?
Every time I take a shower I stand for 2 minutes thinking a little. It is a strange habit but it calms me down. It is my moment and mine alone as I am thinking a little.

WHAT TIPS CAN YOU SHARE TO PROMOTE ECOTOURISM & CLIMATE CHANGE?
Avoid the use of fossil fuels, having a diverse variety.
Put into practice the 3 R's: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
Control your energy consumption.
The fashion industry contributes 8% - 10% of global carbon policies; so, wear clothes sustainably. Plant trees.

WHAT MAKES YOU PROUD OF YOUR COUNTRY?
An archipelago in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, 10 different islands with different characteristics, traits, what defines us as a people is our “Morabeza”, the simple and happy way of living. And what makes me more and more proud to be Cabo Verdeans is our story of struggle and our strength, we took on a sad story and oppression and we turned it into something beautiful in strength. This is the beauty of our people.

WHAT IS YOUR ADVOCACY?
The advocacy I intend to embrace is life in the waters, because it deserves all the attention, educating our generation to preserve these species. Cape Verde is internationally known for being an important breeding site for sea turtles. Sea turtles are undoubtedly one of Cape Verde's iconic species. Cape Verde has 5 species of sea turtles, and they breed here. In the last 4 years we have become one of the main spawning points in the world for the Caretta species, which is normal for loggerhead or common turtles. It should be noted that there are species of turtles all over the world and they are all seriously threatened. Another interesting topic is seabirds. Cape Verde is a seabird hotspot where we have 8 species and 5 are endemic to Cape Verde. In other words, it only exists here. The interesting thing about seabirds is also that they tend to be in beautiful places but it's difficult to access them. There is no shortage of reasons to add to this beautiful gesture that we represent as an archipelago and as a country that welcomes turtles from everywhere every year because it is an ideal place to spawn.
